1. Tip: Never take ball-type-powder 2. Tip: Use a powder, that doesn´t compress (or creates only a very lightly compressed load) 3. Tip: Switch to bullets in the range of 450-480 grains 4. Tip: Use a benchrest-type primer instead of a magnum primer With all this tips consuming I got a very accurate-shooting load using the 450 grs TSX that did 2.235 fps over a chronograph (measured at 20 degrees Celsius here in europe) and never let the owner of the rifle down on a 14-days-safari in namibia.....no sticky cases, very fine performance on buffaloes, wildebeestes, kudus and warthogs.... The rifle was an old Mannlicher-Schönauer (built at the end of the 40s) feat. a 26" barrel. |
