Re: Off Season .375 Practice...

Subdoc; Centermass aiming only! A head shot is too easy to miss, and I don't want to just annoy one and provoke a charge!!

Naki: Yes, meadow hawkweed and timothy grass. A little red clover, too.

My rifle is marked "AV" {that's the long action}. There were two styles, one the ugly, shiny "Finnbear" like mine and the other that was the same rifle in a slightly less-ugly flat metal, dull oil-finished stock setup called the "Hunter".

Keeping track of the number model sobriquets of a SAKO is a job for a tax accountant.

When I was selling them I remembered them like this:

"Finnbear shiney."

"Hunter dull."

I don't care for the styling of the Finnbear. SAKO went out of their way to make the Finnbear look like a hat rack in a PortauPrince bordello, but that rifle is one I can honestly say I have never had a single problem with. No feed problems, no extraction issues, nothing in somewhere around 2,000 rounds or more. In fact, I lament the demise of the AIII/AV actions, and wish they still existed. My experience with SAKO AIII/AV's is that they are as reliable as a good Mauser 98. It is a long story as to how I came to own this thing, but it is the one rifle I've owned I cannot throw a single rock at and it is the one possession I own that my wife would not let me sell for just about any price.
