You know, mehulkamdar, I really like the Savage even though I got it for less than $600. It is very accurate, the recoil isn't bad, it handles well, it has open sights and it is rugged. It has a cheesy plastic tange safety but that's really the only criticism I have of the rifle. It isn't a bad mountain rifle although probably too heavy for some guys, and it could use a more substantial stock. This summer, after hunting season, I plan to take it down to Bell & Carlson here in town and have a Medalist stock put on it... but it's adequate as it is. And I am having very good luck with 270 grain 375 H&H loads. I had a Steyr in .376 Steyr (although I liked the cartridge) that I did not like nearly as well. The Savage is much more responsive. |
