I would choose the VX-III--simply because I have used one for many years with zero problems--also in visiting with Leupold--back when I first bought one--they stated this was the number one trouble free scope of their entire line.. I also have used the VX-III in 1.75 to 6 with good results as well--in fact that is what I have on my .416..again, up to this point, no problems what so ever..
