The only game I've taken with a 550gr. .458 bullet is a single wolf and large 6'4" black bear. The wolf collapsed on the spot, shot through both lungs, and as the black bear was drilled through the side of it's head, it did likewise, only much more dramatically. The head hit first, then the butt came down from 3' in the air and slammed the ground behind. The smack in the head with that flat nosed 550gr. Kinda flipped him sideways with his butt going up then smalling down. I know the bullet didn't do that but that's how it looked. Wierd muscle reaction, I presume.
; My 550gr. load was travelling only 1,850fps. muzzle vel. and the bear was 40 yards distance, wolf about 75 yards.
