The .416 Taylor is based on the "short" 2.5" (approx) belted case like the .264 Win Mag, 7mm Rem Mag, .338 Win Mag, etc. The .416 Rem Mag is based on the 2.8" (approx) full length belted case like the .375 H&H, .458 Lott, etc.
