I've been following the cast bullet question regarding .458's and .375's with interest but I don't handload (yet) so I'm limited to what's off the shelf. I recently purchased some 405-grain .458 Win Mag loads from Wisconsin Cartridge Company loaded to 2,200 fps that have really performed impressively in my Ruger #1 and a Mauser sporter. There are jacketed flat point bullets. So far I haven't tried beyond 100 yards because I use these rifles at relatively short range. Recoil is very pleasant and the round is quite accurate. Do any of you have similar .458 loads? Other than Africa I'd think this load I'm using would do for about anywhere else in the world.... except perhaps the big Asian buffalo you Australians have.
