Usually it's a hell of a lot closer than 50yds. with a jumbo if he wants you for stomping practice or to play nick-nack paddy-WACK. That's the beautiful thing about a .577 But, as to the .458 Lott, it has to be the MOST economical and logical, and needless to say, very good, stopper, around for the money. A lot of people have a hard time distinguishing the stopping effect between it, and a .500 3". Same energy. But, I for one, am a student of the Taylor KO values, believing in big bullets. I've seen the higher velocity .458's in action, and although with the same energy, do not even start to compare with a .577
