It will handle most situations. The 450-3,1/4 was my first nitro when I got into all of this. Then, I decided bigger was better-lol. But yes, the .450 is a dream of a gun for a lot of reasons. I always loaded 4831 with no filler. Easy to load for. Today though, I personally prefer bigger thumpers for dangerous species. I graduated to a .500 3" just recently, and to me, even this is light, and I am having a .600 built on a custom falling block. In a .450 bore, my absolute fav is the 458 Lott, but thats a different story. The .450 will do very well for you. It is all that is needed when hunting with back-up. for a loner who hunts alone like me-I like the .500. The .600 is just going to be for kicks, and not for continuous carry. But, like me, if the big bug bites you, then the .450 might start looking very small. But, don't let that bug get to you, because the .450 will do everything it's supposed to and more. You'll love it. |
