What's the issue with a Lyman 48 sight? I have one just like it on my P-14 Enfield .505 and have had nothing but success with it. It is lightning fast and much easier to use than open sights in my opinion. Of course, I use it without the screw in insert, so I can see all out-of-doors through it.

The fact that I grew up shooting an M1 Garand in competition, then Model 70 Winchesters with receiver sights, may have contributed to my predeliction for them, but most authorities agree that they are appropriate for heavy rifles, provided they are located far enough from the shooter's eye, unlike the old fashioned tang sights, which could be a real threat.
