Shot the New 375 Ruger Hawkeye African

It is a working rifle from end to end. The metal finish looks almost parkerized, and the stock is nice and trim. I like the wrap around forend checkering, but don't abide by the front sling stud; it bit me already. Its going, in favor of a barrel band. The trigger is OK, but I might go to a Timney like on my 77 in 338. It made a real shooter out of the 338. The factory trigger breaks at just about 5+ pounds by my scale with just a tad bit of creep.

The open sights were right on at 100yds with Hornady 270gr ammo. I mounted a 2.5X8 Leupold and bore sighted, then shot several 3 shot groups in gale-force winds. My groups (3 in all) ran from 1 1/2-2". I expect it to be a tack driver on a clam day, accordingly.

Ruger should change to a barrel band sling eye, but otherwise I can't find fault with the 375 Hawkeye. Now I'll wait until the 416 Ruger is on the market...
