angusruls Rebarreling involves taking the rifle to a gunsmith and he chambers the new barrel for the new cartridge and then fits it to the action. Once that is done you have a rifle that will at least "go bang" But other issues such as sights being fitted need to be done. Also, there might be some feeding problems with the change of cartidge. Most people would agree that the 500 A Square is the easiest way to a 500 rifle and also the easiest for obtaining brass and reloading in general. However, it has less pizzaz or "character" than a 500 Jeffery or 505 Gibbs and would be generally considered as less desirable to have in a more expensive custom rifle. Mike |
