Allen, I am a fan of Reloader 15 in the .375 H&H. If I am not trying to get a flat trajectory for long distance shooting, then I use 64.5 grains of Re15 with an F215 primer and a 300 grain bullet. That gives between 2400 and 2450 fps, which does not cause excessively rapid expansion and bullet failure. I assume you would use the rifle for general purpose African hunting. For elk, I would use a much faster load. As far as bullets, my favorite soft is the North Fork. They also has fine flat nose and cup nose solids. If you care to order from South Africa, GS Custom has an excellent flat nose solid, and a very aerodynamic copper expanding bullet. Neither NF nor GS have given me any fouling problems. Woodleigh softs tend to be a bit soft in the .375 at full velocity. Instead of a Woodleigh, I would choose a Swift A-Frame as a second choice lead core soft. As a third choice solid, I would consider the Woodleigh FMJ. |
