hoppdoc, If you are referring to the .411" bullets, Swift does make a special run of 350 and 400 grain every few years, but is not consistent enough to find dependable. The 400 grain run is even more rare than the 350. Perhaps if the Tembo becomes a production rifle, the run would become more frequent, but that is what I thought when Holland and Holland introduced the 400 H&H and I haven't seen any increase in production. Other than the lightweight 300 grain bullets from Hornady and the 400 grain Woodleigh, I find it very frustrating to find good quality .411" bullets. I buy up every Swift A Frame in 350 grain I can find, but do not have anywhere near as many as I need. I do understand Swift is scheduled to make another run in January 2007. Hawk does make a variety of .411" bullets, but those seem awfully soft to me. Mike Brady makes the excellent North Fork bullets and for the 300 grain bullet, there's none better. I have some of his 360 grain bullets, but are too long for my use. They might work for the Tembo extremely well. Barnes still makes 300 grain X bullet, I think. As soon as I had my 411 Hawk ordered, Barnes dropped the 325, 350 and 400 grain X bullets in .411". Wouldn't work for me anyway, because they are so long, but might work in a longer cartridge case. Since satisfying my wildcat desire, I would not choose a .411" bullet cartridge over a 416 for any reason. |
