p.s.- I am surprised to see this one from Ruger offered so soon. I thought it would be a couple years if at all. In any case, you can't go wrong with the cartridge. Anyway, yes, I recieved the Lott today, and am giving it a no.-7 or 8 on the scale of what I was anticipating. The bolt on my m-48 mauser is smoother, and this one will have to be worked on. The wood is good, but not excellent. It looks like, I guess, what I paid for it, but no more. Fine for going through thick brush, and not worrying about it. I guess, it's the best a basic-factory rifle can achieve. I figure it's no need in posting a pic of it-it's not THAT impressive. The bolt could be a tad longer-with checkering so it won't slip, and the whole thing is muzzle-heavy, even in .458. Will have to add weight to the butt just to counter-balance. I can only imagine what the .375's feel like toward the muzzle.!!! But for the work I want it to do-it's just right. No frills, just a hard working gun. |
