On a .470 double, a 1-18 twist would be ok as the slower velocity bullet, which is also shorter in length, stabilizes more easily. Increase velocity and there is less stability and a faster twist is appropriate.

Differences in twist are given credit for the 9.3 x 62 showing deeper penetration than the 375 H&H.
