Re: Scholefield

Well, I've got more info. now that I received Kirton's book on single shot British rifles. The name of this company was and is Scholefield, Goodman & Sons and they were retailers in Birmingham. There apparently are records for the company in the Birmingham Museum including customer ledgers. They possibly built their own rifles from Field's patent actions and with barrels made by others. Kirton has several photographs and copies of two pages from a Scholefield 1896 catalogue in his book, which by the way is spectacular and has chapters on all the single shot actions that were made from 1865 onward. If you like British single shots, this is a must have for the library.
