I've had both mercury tube and a tungsten bead recoil arrestors in different rifles and both worked well. The rifle I have at the moment for my personal use (500 Jeffery) and the one I'm just buying for a company loaner (.404 Jeffery) both have mercury tubes in them. Not only do they reduce felt recoil but they also make for a faster reload if necessary.
