Recoil is often a state of mind matey, I understand what you are saying, but the most shots in a short time that you will fire are on the range. In the field it may be one or two and your adrenalin will be up, unless you are already preoccupied with recoil you won't notice the recoil. I remember a bloke that had problems with recoil, I got him to shoot a large calibre gun prior to his range testing and after that he didn't appear to be too bothered. He certainly shot better. I saw a rifle that an american hunter brought in to Oz, instead of flutes longitudal, these were around the barrel for the length and about an inch apart. Seemed to do the job and was light.
