At this point, anything is possible. However, the "Field patent" single shot is, as far as I know, an English action. The only other rifles I've seen with this action has been two Holland and Holland marked both in 303 caliber and one CW Andrews marked in 400/360 caliber.

There was also a Joshua Scholefield in Birmingham - is it the same guy as in New York? - I have no idea. It is at times like this that I realize how lacking my gun library really is.
