I've noted this elsewhere, but my first blood with my Tolley 500/450 was a skunk. Good shot too, I wanted to immobilize the thing so I shot for it's neck, took the stem of his spine clean off the back of his brain. It left a nice little hollow where the stem used to nestle in there.
Nasty little critter'd shaken it's hind quarters in the general direction of my wife who had our infant daughter in the buggy (the little one loves getting out to the ranch, she also loves long guns...)
The girls ducked behind an old pickup while I came around the side for a love tap.
