Use the Acraglass jell from Brownells for the bedding process it will stay in place! If you coat the outside of the stock with a thick layer of past furniture wax clean up will be rather easy. I have found that the release agent, (And do not use it spairingly!!!) is not really the ticket for screws. I use candle wax as it leaves clearance and does not peal off like some of the release agents. Heat the guard screws to the point where the wax flows along them and adhears with out cloudiness when hot. As the screws cool the wax will cloud and this is OK. Usually I bed from the chamber area back and leave the rest of the barrel free floating and this seems to work best as far as accuracy. Pluss it is far easier to remove glass bedding then to add more with out screwing up the rest of the bedding job. As to cross bolts where the stock is finished it would be best to use hidden cross bolts and the rear cross bolt is probably the most important! Give me a call I will fill you in on how to go about this job and talk you through it. The # is 207-938-3595 |
