There are fancy rings and bases, but the old-style Weaver bases are among the best for a heavy recoiling rifle. they're just a pain to get the scope's hairs level. : My .458Alaskan M70 wears Leupold rings and bases and it's scope hasn't moved. : I firmly beleive that scope rings with screws on both sides, need 4 screws, 2 per side alternately tightened, back and forth, back and forth until 'there'. : I also firmly believe in light scopes as the 2X Leupold, or if variable, 1-4x at the most. : Leupold rings go on and off the .458 with bullet impacts very close, generally within a couple inches, but not perfect. |
