You can get a new extractor from Ruger, or a representitive.
: If you can get a good price on the #3, then perhaps the #1 in .45/70 wold be the better way to go.
: A stock #1 will make about 2,200fps even with 400gr. bullets, developing well over 4,000ft. lbs. if that is the powder level you want. As well, it could be chambered more deeply for whatever length .45cal. case you want.
: With that in mind, you can get 2.4" up to 3-1/2" brass. 3" or 3-1/2" brass will make 2,200fps(or more) with less than 35,000PSI & even put 500's out at 2,000fps easily.
: The possibilities are wide open at this point.
