There are a lot of favorable posts on the .450 Rigby over on the AccurateReloading website, a fair number of them mine. It's a first class DG cartridge with considerable advantages over the AHR. Pressure will be lower with the Rigby and the ballistics can be souped up if you wish. Personally, I find that 500 gr. at about 2300 fps is enough for anything and the AHR won't get you that. Neither will the Win and you'll be pushing the limit to do it with the Lott. The Lott, the Rigby and all the rest of the larger .45's, however, all have about the same effect on game. As Boddington says, "These things numb buffalo." Good quality brass is readily available form both Midway and from Huntingtons and good bullets are all over the place. It's a very practical Class III DG cartridge. |
