There is a rough rule of thumb for rifle weight. You want about 2 pounds of weight for every thousand pounds of muzzel energy. Thus a 5000 foot pound rifle should be 10 pounds or more. I say this is a rough rule as a 4.5 pound 3006 would not be much fun but for the big energy rifles this "rule" works out rather well.
