Bang on, 500! That's my take exactly. Younger shooters doing any research will go to books by writers in The Golden Age, like O'Connor and Keith, who extoled the virtues of the pre-64 Winchesters. No one of any prominence wrote or yet writes of the Whitworth. You have to be a crawler through the labyrinthine passages of NE, AR and the like to get a feel of the passion that Whitworth owners have for their tools. In many ways, most of them selfish, I think that's a good thing. Leaves more for the rest of us at lower prices! ![]() |
