just to be clear on the intent of this rifle. its not what i would have wanted if i redid this today. when i built it i was just finishing up a 460 Weatherby and the Canadian government banned rifles above 10k J. so i lost the legal status Weatherby after shooting maybe 40 rounds out of it so i wanted to build a huge boomer, ultra utilitarian rifle, used as a club as often as a rifle, carry into the bush anywhere and have enough power to roll anything come across. at the same time in my life i was planning a move to British Columbia from NS. so i figured any hikes and camping id be doing not in hunting season this would be the rifle. i figured way more carrying and basically no shooting. but now ive lived in BC for 4 years and been camping over 100 nights and got a few mountain goats and many black tailed deer. i no longer feel i need such a rifle lol. but i started the project and i want to finish it. if i was to do it over again i would go for 10 pounds even, 26" barrel and walnut stock from the get go. but i have this 18" barrel and a receiver that holds 4+1 rounds so ill make the best of it. i don't care about the weight, the rifle will never leave Canada and is for pure enjoyment while carrying it but yes a range report, im excited for that too there are 2 lengths of round i load for this rifle, i load the 450gr and 520gr to 84mm(3.300") and the 550, 570, and 600gr at 88mm(3.460") ![]() |
