Well, to each his own ... I hold an NRA MASTER SHOOTER Classification and have won many 600yd and 1000yd Long Range Matches with my "belted" 338 WM. I also have shot over 300 whitetail deer with my "belted" 7mm Mag in the last 58 years of hunting. I find NO advantage in removing the belt on a cartridge.
