Good looking rifle. The Lyman is worth as much as the rest of the rifle so that’s an excellent addition. I wonder what that big black filler is in the belly. On the left it looks like it runs way up in the forearm. Just checked the seller’s site and it looks like tape! Anyway, some of these rifles sold as 246’s are rechambered 9.3X57 M46s so checking all of the boxes is important. From what I’ve read, the 246’s have nickel steel barrels and are roll stamped "Nickelstad Antioxid" or maybe “Nickelstal Antioxid” and are marked Kal. 9.3X62 whereas the M46s are only marked Kal. 9.3mm. Also, I’d like to see a confirmed genuine 246 as I’ve read that the serial numbers end in “‘N’ (denoting the nickel steel barrel) but many purported 246s have the ‘N’ at the start of the number which is obviously easier to add than at the end. Not saying that this example is really a M46, just pointing out just how difficult it can be to really know with confidence. |
