John Buhmiller pioneered the big bore 45 cal cartridges. His cartridges were much earlier than the others. Watts, Lott, and Weatherby, all came later. John Buhmiller opened the 378 Weatherby to 45 caliber. Later Roy Weatherby did the same that Buhmiller did, and called it the 460 Wby Mag.
