Aleko Well if you were getting a pair bolt acthions from Holland and Holland would you prefer a 300 H&H and 400 H&H or a 300 H&H and 416 Remington. I think the same goes for a pair of high end custom rifles on Mauser actions. As a stand alone rifle that was an average gun a 416 Remington would be much better because of components. The 416 Remington would also develop the same velocities at a bit lower pressure because the case would be slightly bigger than the 400 H&H and of course the slightly larger bore. If the 400 H&H had been done as a 416 bore it would have been a great cast or paper patch calibre with that extremely long neck. And with the belt case headspace would not increase with each shot if squib loads were being used. Mike |
