Standards are very interesting rifles, and 35R is pobably the best caliber. Standard was well ahead of the times. I think Standard failed because they were underfunded and the rifles were fairly expensive. However, this was a gas operted self loader developed some 30 years before the M1.

The Standard G may have been panned because it was a self loader and America was just evoilving from lever actions to bolts.

The one I had ahad RCMP embossed in the brass forearm and the wood was a very high grade. Standard tried selling these to the RCMP and may have sold a few.

Stick the nose of a bullet into the hole just behindf the trigger and the rifle breaks down into two parts. When you open it, you will notice all of the intricate maching that went into manufacturing these rifles.
