I totally agree! I've had a 16" 50AK for about 20 years as my cabin/truck camping bear gun and that is my only complaint. I've thought about rasping it down but I like the checkering too, so I've only got my own indecisiveness to blame! It does give a little bit of a ledge to hold on to but feels too big in my hand. Mine is cut down to a 12.5" LOP to fit wearing full winter kit so its easy to hit my nose if not paying attention.

I can't wait until they get around to making 1894s!
