Re: Husqvarna 9.3x62

Riodot,

Welcome to the forum.

I have exactly what you are talking about - a Husqvarna 9.3x62 bolt action. Mine is on a commercial FN Mauser action and in the original stock, which appears to be birch.

The recoil is certainly more than a .30-06, but it is considerably less than a .375 H&H mag. I think it is very comfortable to shoot, and I don't notice the recoil at all. Mine has the original hard plastic buttplate. No recoil pad. You shouldn't have any problem shooting it.

I don't think you need crossbolts. I have shot mine quite a bit in the original stock with no cracks or problems. Mine is not even glass bedded. All original.

I scoped mine with a 4x Schmidt & Bender in Warne rings and bases. That is plenty magnification for this caliber. I suppose that makes my rifle a bit "upside-down" because the optics are worth more money than the rifle itself!

I also replaced the original military style trigger with a Blackburn trigger. Money well spent there.

These are great rifles. You have a marvelous caliber and a good start on a custom project. I have always thought in the back of my mind that mine would do well with a new stock, but I just haven't dedicated the money to it.

Enjoy your Husky!
