I shoot a 9.3x64 Brenneke, and it has seen use on most plains game and DG in Africa. Two of my clients used it last year to down 3 buffalo and one elephant with a total of 4 shots. (Shot placement obviously most critical factor.) It is one of my favourites, and even in Africa, where we normally struggle much more to obtain brass, I would not change it for a .375 H&H. As a matter of fact, I recently won a .375 H&H custom rifle, and sold it. My 9.3 will shoot 3 shot groups of less than 1/2 MOA all day, if equipped with an appropriate scope. I do not know if this is because of the cartridge design, mere luck with all the components I used for the rifle, or can be contributed to the gunsmith. It consists of a reworked military M 98 Mauser action, a Vektor barrel (4 grooves only), and a beutiful piece of walnut. It wears a 1.25 -4 x24 Swarovski scope in QD mounts. |
