If I used my raw photo files or even the standard photo size my camera produces - my camera is set to create a raw file and also a large jpeg image at the same time - I think even for the jpeg the image size would be about 30 times the screen size of the forums!
I use an easy image resizing s/w, but here is a very simple and easy to use online resource.

The webpage works by allowing you to select an oversize image, select its new width in pixels, and then the image to downloaded to your PC. You then need to upload the smaller image to a web image hosting site or other net account.
Eventually we wil;l have a new s/w platform which allows uploads of photos and also possibly auotmatice (maximum) resizing of images displayed. No doubt the new s/w will also gets lots of complaints for all sorts of other reasons though ...
