Re: CZ 550 in .505 Gibbs

I made one 505 Gibbs in my life. It was a full-custom rifle made on a Brevex action for a man from Texas. The gun was about 10.5 pounds finished. I was a bit afraid of it when it came time to file in the express sights but I found that it hurt me less then my standard 458 Win mag M70. The stock was made with the largest widest pad I could buy and the weight of the gun made it quite controllable.
So I would agree with some of the posts above. if the stock is made correctly and fits you, the recoil is not really as bad as some would say it is.
Any big rifle with an ill-fitting stock can pound you. Even rifles of lesser calibers can be horrible is the don't fit well.
