I have used the 405Win. in a Winchester 1895 on pigs and it flattens them on the spot using Hornady 300g factory loads. I have read of .405Win being used on Water Buff' in the NT by Craig Boddington using a Ruger No1 but I think he used hand loads, it is a great old cartridge but hard to get rifles in Australia only Ruger import the No1 in .405Win. but on special order and Winchester will not import the 1895! I think they would sell every one if they did!
