Re: The-Ballistician- 416-Remington-Magnum

The .416 Remington was a heck of a cartridge when it came out. It hit harder than a .375 and shot flatter than a .458 Winchester or a .458 Lott. It does not bust scopes like a Lott either. So the recoil while stout, is not excruciating. Certainly less than full power .458 Winchester with 450 through 500 grain loads, and a lot less than a .458 Lott. Pun intended.

A 400 grain bullet at 2350 to 2400 fps will perform very well. Penetration, punch, and bullet performance are outstanding and predictable. No nasty surprises.

The best source for .416 Remington brass is Hornady. Remington is out of the bulk brass business again. Norma makes .416 Remington brass as well. Reloder 15, Woodleigh 400 grain solids and softs, a Lee factory crimp die, and you are set for adventure.
