Thanks for your opinion Ray.... very helpful..... Personally I think the 416RM, 416Rigby and 404 are all great, and I make no comparisons of pressures hi/lo or otherwise (David mentioned that). However I want a 450grain bullet in 435 dia no matter how much negative vibes get flung. Re the 416RM, in fact I like the round very much and hope that CZ will make 416RM rifles soon, so I can trade the company CZ 416Rigby when its wears out, as I would prefer 5 in the mag than 4. Dale Harber of Utah used his 416RM to take a great 103 SCI water buffalo this last season in Arnhemland, and his 3 rounds were well place, but the bull managed to keep on his feet and tried following the herd, until his mate Wayne assisted and flatened it with the 470NE. We have our Annual Pinjarra Big Game Rifle (field)shoot on this weekend, so will have all sorts of rifles going. The best thing is appreciating and shooting the various finearms and the comradeship. At last years shoot, during a cape buffalo (target) walk up I was RO (PH!!) and saw a double tap on a 600NE Holland and Holland, that was very interesting, I was ready to catch the gun, but the shooter hung on... somehow. Funny thing was his 'bearer' quickly handed him a 577NE H&H for the next Buffalo, he wiped the blood from his mouth, refocused each eye, and proceeded to the next buff and gave him a perfect brain and heart shot as instructed. Then turned to me and said, "funny.. the 577 kicks heaps less than the 600 !!!!" Cheers Graham |
