I think there is some kind of stigma attached to Ruger that is undeserved.

A lot of it comes from the Clinton "assault weapon" ban years. Bill Ruger made a comment that nobody needs more than 15 round capacity. AR guys decided to hate him over it. Then, people simply started saying Ruger sucks and never said why, people started believing it and started complaining about the slightest issue that would normally be quickly fixed, and the reputation was ruined.

I always wanted a M77 in .416 Rigby.

Could well be but I have had nothing but problems with 2 out of 3 Ruggers I have owned. A No.1 in 375H&H, not a problem at all, should never have sold it. Ruger No1 in 303 Brit, no matter what I did could not stop it vertical string a group over 5 inches at 100mt. Replaced under warranty, replacement is gold. 77 Mk2 action was warped, discovered this way to late for warranty, replaced with a hawkeye action, is good.

I was trying to find a Rugger 77 in 416 Rigby but at $550 more than a CZ550 I could not justify it.
The Ruger was $2150 and the CZ550 was $1600 at the time.
