It's a nice cartridge no doubt and it sure looks 'right'. However, it's not on my 'want' list for a couple reasons. Why .468" when .475" bullets are already established and prevalent? The cynic in me says it was because it hadn't been done therefore they can CIP register it as their own. Smart business move but there is a reason it's not caught on 12 years after it came in. They have obviously gone belted so that they can run a nice sloping shoulder so it feeds lovely but then you have the belt which fights that ideal. A 500 Jeffery necked down to .475" and a 20 degree shoulder would feed like silk. Plus the greater case capacity would mean you could achieve more performance for a given pressure or the same performance at lower pressure. Just my two pence like. We don't NEED more cartridges but I do like having plenty of choice, I just don't WANT a 465 H&H. |
