Here's the figures that I have for a couple of my hand loads:

Hornady Brass length: 2.765 in.
Woodleigh Solid 500 Gn. OAL: 3.615 in.
Swift A-Frame 500 Gn. OAL: 3.590

Both of these are crimped in the middle of the groove. I've not had any trouble with these in my Ruger RSM.
