sako's website gives 2559 fps MAX muzzle velocity with a 286 gr bullet for their 9.3x66 and for handloaders, with a 286 grain barnes x-bullet and 71.0 gr vihtavuori N560 powder you still only get about 2550 ft/sec in the sako 9.3x66 -- so i never saw the point to that new cartridge: compare it to the venerable, tried-and-tested 9.3x64 brenneke -- which also has C.O.A.L. 3.37" for springfield-length actions -- and it EASILY gives 2650 ft/sec with various 286 gr bullets. heck, wolfe's excellent website gives several loads at or over 2750 fps with 286 gr bullets for the 9.3x64 with plain old IMR 4350....... so what's the point of this new 66 mm cartridge...? regards lapsub |
