for hunting, the bmg is a "toy" in most cases... the reason being is MOST people can't take the recoil of a full load, in a gun that weighs under 30# with a huge brake. for what it's worth, the bmg i usually shoot is a bullpup at 26# with a a brake.. recoil is far less than my 500 jeffe-ry... without the brake, it's amazing. in any event, hunting (stalking) with a bmg is a exercise in stamina... and swapping the gun around with friends. I think that in defining the ultimate big bore, we ought to lay around some parameters.. as the 700xbmg improved is FAR more "ultimate" than the measely .510 bullet!! so, let's say under 15# no brake iron sights hunting barrel (25 and under) heavy SD bullets perfer to be under 12# should be a repeater and/or quick to reload if single jeffe |
