Re: CZ 550 416 Rigby safety issue

Wombat,

I am bringing this topic back from the dead because you are correct. Been playing with the CZ safety, and when the safety is "off" and the bolt is opened and pulled back, the safety can be placed in the "on" position if it is "accidentally" knocked backwards.

When the bolt is pushed forward and closed, the safety lever moves foward by being pushed by a lug on the bolt body, but not all the way to the "off" position, and is still in the "on" position, preventing the trigger from being pulled (keeps the rifle from firing). This is potentially a big problem.

A spring loaded lever with a roller gets high centered on a "corner" of the plate that makes up the saftey. A slight nudge towards the "off" position gets the corner of the safety safety off of high center and it returns to the "off" detent.

It would seem that grinding off just a bid of this high point on the safety plate would fix this problem. I will try it and report back.

All of my CZ's seem to have this characteristic (flaw).
