Regardless of two shots versus three or more, to me it is imprudent not to reload if you have one in the magazine. A rifle that isn't loaded is only good for poking at something. An empty in the chamber is useless and would slow you down should you need another for whatever reason, even hunting deer. Have we not heard stories of hunters who aimed at quarry and squeezed the trigger only to find out they forgot to reload?

Ardent is rightly doing what all shooters should but most do not - training. People tend to perform in real situations as they have drilled in training. If one has a "favoured simple practice regimen" it should always include ejecting the empty and loading the next round because that is what you should do in the field.
