Hello pjaln, Yes, I found the listing on Dismal River Armory's site. http://www.dismalriverarmory.com/atkinson404.html This is another one of Ernie's stretched actions. It is very similar to mine. They are advertising it as a "Single Square Bridge True Magnum Length Oberndorf Action" - which as we know, it is not. Original Oberndorf action serial numbers did not have a letter prefix. This rifle's serial number also begins with the letter "B" (like mine) which indicates it was originally a Military action, not a commercial action. In addition, it looks like someone has later removed Ernie's "Mauser-Werke Astoria" marking from the left side of the receiver to make it look like an original Mauser magnum length action. When Ernie sent me photos of my rifle, he also sent photos of two 404's that they built. 2 of the photos show a 404 built on an FN action, and 4 of the photos show a 404 built on a stretched action. When examining those 4 photos, it turns out to be "this" Dismal River Armory 404. The photos show this rifle in the white, with the stock in various stages of completion - from a figured blank, to completion. Interestingly, thay have an $8,995 asking price. I'll be watching to see what it sells for. |
