1st, thanks for the feedback on scope/mounts for my Ruger. I got the gun in and noticed that the stock was broken during shipment. (ouch) It appears that something hit the box and the stock split at the wrist. Some of the cracks are through the stock and it's beyond repair. Of course, I am filling a claim for the damage. (The upside is the guy handling the claim for the local shipping office is an avid shooter/hunter) Ruger says that it's going to be somewhere north of $1000 for a new stock and labor. Should I look at some other options? In looking at some other custom walnut prices, it seems that this is a pretty reasonable one. Does anyone have some alternatives/suggestions?
